From Arch to Arc – they did it!!

Back in September, four Metropolitan Polic Officers travelled from London to Paris, not by plane or train, but on their push-bikes!

The first day was action packed but not for the obvious reasons.  After a puncture before clearing the M25, one of the bikes was run over by a truck (thankfully noone was hurt) and the support crew visiting A&E for the support driver, the very tired team reached their first destination – Newhaven.

Days 2 and 3 saw more incidents as the team travelled from Newhaven to Pontoise via Dieppe and Forges Les Eaux dressed as superheroes, sailors, french ladies and SMURFS!! Day 3 was particularly tough as the team were feeling the strain – but they gritted their teeth and kept going.

Day 4 was the final strait as the team arrived at the Eiffel Tower to banners, baguettes and champagne! A huge congratulations to Steve, Kelly, Tricia and Yousef on their fantastic achievement.

Steve had the following words to say, a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me on this cycle ride.  It really was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. There was no way I was giving up and am proud to say I cycle every mile from London to Paris in support of my favourite charity – Dreamflight.

In total, the team raised a massive £1,170 for Dreamflight – Thank you Steve, Kelly, Tricia and Yousef.  If you haven’t had a chance to donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/policecycletoparis.
