“One of the greatest moments in my friendship with Katie”

We always say that Dreamflight is so much more than just a holiday, and stories like this one demonstrate why.

Alice – a former Dreamflight child – recently celebrated her wedding day, and her Maid of Honour for the special occasion was her best friend Katie.  Alice first met Katie after they’d both been selected to go on a Dreamflight holiday back in 2009; “I thought she seemed really fun and nice…we danced on stage and had great fun on the plane.”

Their friendship blossomed throughout their trip, as they shared the magical experience together. Alice said: “Dreamflight did so much for my confidence, I had been so poorly and had so many surgeries that I didn’t feel like ‘me’ anymore, the trip came along at just the right time.

The best part for me was feeling free and happy and meeting other children who understood what I was going through and how I felt.”

Alice and Katie have remained firm friends since their Dreamflight holiday; going on lots of shopping trips, having sleepovers and even attending each other’s proms.

“One of the greatest moments in my friendship with Katie is asking her to be my Maid of Honour at my wedding and her accepting! The wedding day was amazing and Katie stayed with me at the hotel overnight and helped me get ready in the morning. Olivia Grace (Katie’s daughter) was my flower girl and looked absolutely beautiful.

Katie did a speech as my Maid of Honour and it was such a great moment, I’m so grateful to have a best friend like her willing to do that for me.”

Katie said: “The wedding day went really well despite the restrictions…I felt proud that Alice has met the love of her life and she looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress! When she asked me to be her Maid of Honour I was overwhelmed with excitement.”

Congratulations Alice – you looked amazing! We’re so thrilled that you’ve both found a lifelong friend in each other through your Dreamflight holiday.
