Ahead of our 30th anniversary in 2016, Dreamflight is looking at how else we might help deserving children in the future – and we need your help!
Dreamflight exists to help children with a serious illness or disability to realise their potential. Since 1987, we’ve been doing this through our annual trip to Florida, taking 192 deserving children on their 10 day ‘holiday of a lifetime’ to Orlando each October. The focus is on building relationships, confidence and independence, and so far Dreamflight has supported over 5,000 children in this way.
We’re now considering how else we could help children to realise their potential. Perhaps the annual trip could be seen as just the beginning – a launch pad for a lifelong relationship between the young person and Dreamflight, with the charity providing support in other ways (this could be advice, education, funding or something else?). Or perhaps Dreamflight could look to help those deserving children not able, for whatever reason, to go on the Dreamflight trip itself, and extend our reach this way.
We’ve today launched a survey asking for views on Dreamflight’s next phase, and would love you to take part. Whether you’ve been part of Dreamflight yourself (either as a child, a nurse or a non-medical volunteer) or whether you just have an interest in helping deserving children, we’d love to hear from you!
It will only take up to 10 minutes of your time, but could have a real and lasting impact. Please visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/Dreamflight30 - deadline for responses is Monday 20 July.
