Blubberman to IronMan in aid of Dreamflight

In May this year, self-styled 'blubberman' and Dreamflight supporter Christian Teasdel will be travelling to Utah to take part in the Ironman triathlon, made famous by it's gruelling length and harsh race conditions.

An Ironman race is an ultra-distance triathlon, consisting of a 2.4 mile swim (3.86km), followed by a 112 mile bike ride (180.25 km) and finishing with a marathon...yes that's a 26.2 mile run (42.195 km).  All participants must race in this order and continue without a break, to try and complete the race within the strict time limit of 17 hours.

When asked why he chose to take part in such an event, Christian replied:

"Well I raised nearly £4000 for Dreamflight last year with some effort in an Olympic distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km ride, 10 km run) triathlon event.  I want to raise the same again this year so thought I would need to push myself even further to reach such a target.  It is only 15 hours or so for me but a ten day holiday and a lifetime of memories for anyone I can raise the money to send."

Training over the winter months has been tough for Christian with snow and freezing cold conditions, but he plans solid sessions throughout February and March in preparation for his big day in May.
