Dreamflight supporter Shelley Purdham took part in the 2010 Great North Run to help to raise funds for Dreamflight. The Great North Run is labelled as the most iconic half marathon on the planet. With 54,000 participants, it is full of atmosphere, dedication, passion and fun.
Shelley completed the gruelling 13.1 miles in just 2hours 25 minutes and here's what she had to say:
'I was over the moon with this as my target was to do it under 2:30. I absolutely loved the whole experience and was very emotional when I crossed the line. I was on a high for days afterwards, although very stiff!
Everyone has been extremely supportive and generous. I certainly think that knowing what a fantastic cause I was running for helped me run that little bit faster!'
Shelley raised a fantastic £635 for Dreamflight, which will enable three children to swim with the dolphins during the ten day trip, a wonderful 'once in a lifetime' experience. Dreamflight are most grateful for Shelley's tremendous support.
The 2011 Bupa Great North Run takes place in the 18th September at Newcastle Gateshead. The general ballot is now open until 12:00 on Monday 7 February 2011...so hurry to apply for your place now, by following this link
