Ian Poulter’s Dreamflight Golf Day Raises over £22,000

Ian Poulter’s Dreamflight Golf Day Raises over £22,000 Retweet

The end of July saw the inception of Ian Poulter’s Dreamflight Golf Day.  Ian Poulter has been a patron of Dreamflight for the last two years and is extremely passionate about the work that we do to change young lives.

Held on the championship Marquess’ Course at his home club, Woburn the golfers played 18 holes in teams of four.  Ian drove a special Dreamflight hummer buggy (kindly donated by Mini Hummer Europe) and visited all the golfers on the course giving them tips and encouragement.  The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

One special team, the Dreamflight wonders (pictured), included Patricia Pearce MBE (Co-founder of Dreamflight) and Emily Broughton, Aiden Healy and Sean Goldthorpe – three children that have experienced the Dreamflight holiday.

The players (which included professional golfers and twin sisters Johanna and Samantha Head) used Vpar, an electronic scoring system to keep track of their results, which were on display at the club house throughout the day.

Dreamflight supporters The Buzz were present on the day and sponsored a ‘Buzz hole’ on the course, providing players with their natural energy bars and drinks.

Golf 2 Go were the star team, finishing in first place and followed closely by the Denham Sharks and CIBC.  There were additional individual prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin competitions and players were also invited to try and beat Ian’s shot, taken on the 17th hole that morning.

The players had a wonderful day and all put their hands in their pockets to help Dreamflight to raise in excess of £22,000, paying for at least 6 children to go on the Dreamflight trip later this year.

Once play had finished, the golfers were entertained by World Champion trick golfer, Geoff Swain…a fantastically exciting and amusing show!  Ian’s wife Katie and three children then joined Ian and the guests for dinner, during which Dreamflight patron and Paralympic gold medallist swimmer Liz Johnson told guests of her own Dreamflight experience as a child.  Ian gave an emotional speech and presented Patricia Pearce MBE with a cheque for £50,000 for Dreamflight.

We at Dreamflight would like to extend a great big thank you to the players and everyone else that helped to make the day a success including: British Airways, The Buzz, Iceni Water, IJP Design, Lexus, Knight Securities, Luxhire, Mini Hummer Europe, Westcoast and Woburn Golf Club.

Further to the success of the day, we intend to make this an annual event and will be seeking sponsors for the 2011 Ian Poulter’s Dreamflight Golf Day.  Please contact Emma on 01494 722733 if you would like to get involved.
