Back in September, four Metropolitan Polic Officers travelled from London to Paris, not by plane or train, but on their push-bikes!
The first day was action packed but not for the obvious reasons. After a puncture before clearing the M25, one of the bikes was run over by a truck (thankfully noone was hurt) and the support crew visiting A&E for the support driver, the very tired team reached their first destination - Newhaven.
Days 2 and 3 saw more incidents as the team travelled from Newhaven to Pontoise via Dieppe and Forges Les Eaux dressed as superheroes, sailors, french ladies and SMURFS!! Day 3 was particularly tough as the team were feeling the strain - but they gritted their teeth and kept going.
Day 4 was the final strait as the team arrived at the Eiffel Tower to banners, baguettes and champagne! A huge congratulations to Steve, Kelly, Tricia and Yousef on their fantastic achievement.
Steve had the following words to say, "a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored me on this cycle ride. It really was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but also one of the most rewarding. There was no way I was giving up and am proud to say I cycle every mile from London to Paris in support of my favourite charity - Dreamflight."
In total, the team raised a massive £1,170 for Dreamflight - Thank you Steve, Kelly, Tricia and Yousef. If you haven't had a chance to donate, please visit www.justgiving.com/policecycletoparis.
