There is excitement and anticipation at Heathrow this evening as final preparations are made before Dreamflight departs the UK tomorrow to head across ‘the pond’.
Goofy’s, Flintstones, Mice, Shrekkies, Pirates, Scooby’s, Peter Pan’s, Tiggers, Pooh Bear’s, Simpsons, Dolphins and Donald Ducks will need to flap hard tomorrow in order to get the aircraft off the ground.
The first of many parties was in full swing today at the Renaissance hotel and this year’s 192 Dreamflighter’s enjoyed the band of the Royal Welsh Regiment and Shenkin the Goat, the Rebel Legion Star Wars characters, Police Patting Dog and puppies, a British Airways mobile flight simulator pod, and the wonderful opportunity to ride in a luxury Range Rover Sport provided by Luxhire.
6 metropolitan police officers arrived just in time for the party, having pedalled a very long way to get there...350 miles in fact, all the way from Lands End! Their entrance was fantastic, with a police escort from their fellow Heathrow officers for the last leg of the journey.
Today’s wonderful welcome party costs approximately £5000. This is the equivalent of 28 people making a monthly donation of £15, which is extremely important in settling the children with their new friends and adult carers, with whom they will be spending the next ten days and nights.
If you would like to make a monthly donation, please contact the office on 01494 722733 and request a standing order form.
