On Sunday 18th July cricket fans were out in force to enjoy the fabulous weather and watch the Colonel Garret Cricket Cup. Organised by Cookham Dean Cricket Club, the 6-a-side tournament takes place annually and eight teams from local pubs and clubs compete to win the cup.
The day was an enjoyable day for all and included additional festivities including face painting and other entertainment for the kids, a raffle, auction, barbecue, pimms tent, cream teas, sweet and craft stalls and a DJ. Local Dreamflight volunteer Jose Revez also ran a stall selling his famous and extremely popular Portugese Piri Piri sauce.
This year, the event was not only sponsored by Malik’s Restaurant, but their team dominated the field and defended their title as the winners, so once again they returned with the Colonel Garrett Cup.
Part of the funds raised are going towards a new roof for the clubhouse. The remainder of the money raised will be donated to Dreamflight, helping to fund the trip this October.
