BA DREAMFLIGHT THE RACE HORSE

BA DREAMFLIGHT THE RACE HORSE Retweet

'I thought you might like to know what has come of BA Dreamflight since his retirement so here's the latest on him.

He is now owned and cared for by Victoria Cartmel, the girl who used to look after him at the stables. Initially he had difficulty in getting used to just being a normal horse again, he had done a lot of racing and it took its toll, unfortunately this manifested itself physically as well as psychologically.  In the very last stages of his racing career he picked up an injury to one of his rear legs and this flared up after his retirement, to the extent that a vet suggested to Victoria that she might consider having him put down.  Naturally, Victoria and Robert Winston (Victoria's partner) would have none of that and they cared for the horse through a long (and expensive) recuperation period.  I am pleased to say that he is now back to rude health and in a much calmer and happier state of mind.  In his career he had one win, two second place finishes and 2 third places.

Poor Victoria had to cope with all this while herself recuperating from an awful fall on the gallops in which she shattered her ankle - an injury which she is still feeling the effects of almost a year later.

Victoria and Robert are moving to a small yard of their own near Deauville in France at the end of February and her beloved 'Bee' will be going with her.  The horse has been schooled over jumps with a view to going show-jumping in ex-racehorse classes on this side of The Channel, maybe this summer.  Victoria has her eyes on Windsor, Newbury, Stoneleigh etc. Naturally, she knows just how important BA Dreamflight was/is to us all (and us to him) so it would be great if as many of us as possible could meet and cheer him on in a slightly more relaxed environment, should the opportunity arise.'
